On Saturday, April 13, 2019, the day I’ve been nervously waiting for came to fruition! I hosted First Coast Foodie Crew’s first tour! Check out some of the highlights below:
The Tour Guests —- For the first tour, I invited just my family to test out the flow of the tour, logistics such as timing and of course the food tastings! Surprisingly, my mom who doesn’t like curry, LOVED Hawker’s Asian Street Fare’s family recipe curry with the Malaysian roti.
The Weather —- The weather was absolutely gorgeous. While it was a little warm at times, the cloud cover and cool breeze kept things comfortable.
The Chefs — We met the Head Chef of Hawker’s Asian Street Fare, Chef Isreal! Chef Isreal came to our table to welcome our guests and chat a little about his favorite Asian dishes. PS. He loves veggies!
We also met Sous Chef of Crane Ramen Chef Corey! He debuted a new dish that will be rolling out on Crane Ramen’s menu later this month! He came to our table to chat about his inspiration behind the dish and how he prepared it. The result — a delicious explosion of flavor!
The History — We stopped at Riverside Park, the iconic 5 – Points intersection, Memorial Park and Sun Ray Cinema to learn a bit of history behind those landmarks. My family, who are Jacksonville natives even learned some new things they didn’t know before.
The Food — On this tour, we tasted Malaysian Roti (Hawker’s Asian Street Fare), Chicken Quesadillas (Mossfire Grill), New Chicken Meatball & Kimchi Rice Dish (Crane Ramen), Shrimp Tacos from (Timoti’s Seafood Shak) and Zeppolis (Al’s Pizza).
If you haven’t been on a walking food tour –now is the time! Tours start and end at the always lively Riverside Arts Market! Tour dates are available on the calendar through June 1!
